*Week 4 - What if we SAVED? - 15 points
You will choose something that you spend money on quite regularly that you could live without.
Part 1: Contribute to the "The Things We Could Sacrifice" slideshow on our wiki! Take a picture ON A CELL PHONE that represents the thing you could sacrifice, that you COULD do with out, even though you are used to spending money for it on a consistent basis. Here's how:
1. Send the picture as a text message. Instead of putting in a phone number to send it to just put this address: [email protected] . Don't worry - this will not be using INTERNET on your phone, just normal texting!
2. In the body of the text message, erase any signatures that you have (optional).
3. In the body of the text message, either before or after the picture and on a new line, put the word "tags:" and then a space. Then you must put "splurge" as your key word. Do not put either of these in quotes as I just did to explain it you.
4. Press send!
5. If you do not have a cell phone to use, you may send a regular email with the picture file attached to the email address in yellow above. Make sure in the body of the email, all you put is "tags: splurge".
5. After 5-10 minutes or less, your photo should be a part of the slideshow on the Assignment 4 page of the wiki.
Part 2: Calculate how much you would spend on this 1 item for an entire year. That will be your starting point for this assignment, which will completed on the wiki. You will use the compound interest formula to predict the future value of this amount of money if you invested it in a Roth IRA with 8% interest for 40 years, compounded once annually, rather than spending it on that one luxury item. See the wiki for further instruction!
